Who checks the messages?
Messages on our boards are moderated by the webmaster or assistant webmaster to ensure our message boards are a safe and enjoyable place to be. This person acts as both the moderator and the host.
A moderator's job is to remove messages that break our House Rules. Messages will not be removed for any other reason.
A host's job is to encourage interesting discussions and to help resolve disagreements. They post regularly on the message boards, start discussions or reply to questions.
How our message boards are checked
Falklands Radio's Message Boards are checked or 'moderated' in the following way:
Pre-moderation - every single message is checked before it appears on the board.
Reasons for failing or removing a message
Messages are removed if they are failed by a moderator or if a complaint about a message is upheld. This will only happen if the message breaks our House Rules. House Rules are listed below.
Messages that quote all or part of failed messages may also be removed.
After a message is removed from the board
If one of your messages is removed you will be sent an email explaining why. If you feel one of your messages has been removed unjustly, please reply to that email. Anyone who regularly breaks the House Rules may:
Be banned from the message board
Online Safety
Remember that posting a message on a message board is like making a public announcement. Everyone can see that information, not just the person you have been talking to.
People you meet online may not be who they seem. They can post information about themselves, which may not be true and encourage you to build up a picture of them which is misleading.
Never give out your contact details including:
Your real name.
Postal address and postcode.
Telephone number (including mobile).
Email address (including hotmail or webmail addresses).
Messages that contain contact details will be removed under the House Rules. If you see contact details in a message, use the 'make a complaint' button to let us know.
Take care when giving out information that could help someone to locate you. This could be details of your school, hometown or clubs you belong to.
Complaints
If another user is abusive to you or makes you feel uncomfortable, you should contact us by using the 'make a complaint' button. Please explain the situation as clearly as you can, so that we can investigate the situation if necessary.
